HAIR
RESTORATION INSTITUTE
helps men and women experiencing
medically-related hair loss as a result of
chemotherapy, thyroid, or other medical
disorders and treatments.
Chemotherapy,
and other cancer treatments such as
radiation, works because they kill rapidly
dividing cells. Because hair grows
relatively fast, these cells are attacked
and the hair growth is temporarily stopped.
Now that new anti-nausiant drugs are
available to patients, many people living
with cancer treatment are able to work and
play almost like normal, except for the hair
loss.
The hair loss
brings a loss of privacy and self-image that
many find harder to deal with than the
actual treatment. For this situation, we
recommend that you choose a wig from a
selection of full cap wigs.

There are
several hair loss treatment options
available for those experiencing medically
related hair loss. Some people choose hair
replacement systems, scarves or turbans,
while others prefer a full or partial hair
prosthesis.
Our custom
hair replacements for men, women, and
children are uniquely different from the
standard wigs readily available in
department stores or mail order catalogs.
They are
designed to meet an individual's specific
hair loss needs, and to look totally natural
and undetectable. They are also designed in
such a way as to not irritate the scalp of
an individual with little or no hair of
their own. Whatever the cause, every
medically-related hair loss situation can be
restored to the patient’s original hair
style and look.
100%
Human Hair Wigs
For the very
ultimate in comfort and style there is
nothing like a high-quality human hair wig.
Contrary to
popular belief, not all human hair wigs are
hard to maintain. In fact, because you can
use hot blowers, rollers and curling
(straightening) irons you have a lot more
styling options.
Human hair
wigs are cut and customized to the look that
you want. For this reason we do not have set
styles like with the synthetic wigs.
Synthetic Wigs
The synthetic
hair that we choose is of a higher quality
that you would see in a department store or
catalog. We make our wigs to 'medical
quality' standards, leaving others to
provide what we call 'fashion wigs'.
Medical wigs,
especially made with synthetic hair, are a
huge improvement over machine made fashion
wigs. The cap of our wigs fits the shape of
a head that has little or no hair, even the
materials used in the construction of our
medical quality wigs are designed to not
irritate a sensitive scalp.

Trichotillomania
Lots
of people have nervous habits, but
people who pull out their hair
compulsively can suffer overwhelming
emotional and even physical impact.
Psychiatrists estimate that 4
million Americans have what is
called trichotillomania
(trick-o-till-o-main-ee-a). If wigs
or hair replacement is something you
want to consider, the highly
experienced consultants at Hair
Restoration Institute of Minnesota
will help you find the best
solution.
Alopecia
Alopecia areata (AA) is a condition
in which hair is lost from some or
all areas of the body, usually from
the scalp. Because it causes bald
spots on the scalp, especially in
its early stages, it is sometimes
called spot baldness. In 1%–2% of
cases, the condition can spread to
the entire scalp (Alopecia totalis)
or to the entire epidermis (Alopecia
universalis). |
